WORLD POLIO ERADICATION DAY MESSAGE

Today, 24th October, we join the global Rotary family to celebrate World Polio Eradication Day — a day that reminds us of what humanity can achieve through collective commitment and compassion.

Through the unwavering dedication of Rotarians worldwide, the world now stands on the verge of being completely free from polio. Contributions to the Rotary Foundation have made possible the procurement and distribution of vaccines, logistics for immunization campaigns, and continuous advocacy that have brought this dreaded disease to the brink of extinction.

Thanks to these relentless efforts, polio has been eradicated in almost every country, with only Afghanistan and Pakistan still recording isolated cases. This is a remarkable testament to Rotary’s vision and the spirit of Service Above Self.

On behalf of the Rotary Club of Akure Metro, District 9126, I salute every Rotarian, partner, volunteer, and health worker who has contributed to this noble cause. Together, we have rewritten global health history.

Let us continue to give, to serve, and to sustain the progress until every child, everywhere, is safe from polio forever.
