The capacity-building workshop, held in Akure, the state capital, was organized by the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB) in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Abuja. Thinking Aloud on Mode of WAEC Examinations in 2026 (Part Two) In my earlier opinion piece on the proposed introduction of Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for WAEC examinations beginning in 2026, I highlighted some of the immediate challenges that both candidates and WAEC as an institution may face. Chief among these were issues of digital divide, inadequate exposure of rural students to computers, infrastructural gaps in schools, logistical demands of establishing accredited CBT centres, and concerns around examination security and system reliability. In this second part of my reflection, I wish to expand on some other critical challenges that deserve attention if the transition to CBT is to succeed. First is the financial implication. Many schools, especially in rural areas, may be compelled to introduce extra levies to fund ICT facilities. World Teachers’ Day Tribute My journey in life has taught me that teachers are not just transmitters of knowledge, but true architects of destiny. Having sat for WAEC many times, faced with the struggles of subject combinations, financial constraints, and repeated setbacks, it was through persistence and the silent inspiration drawn from the teaching profession that I found my footing. The road was not easy—at first, only 5 passes, later 5 credits but without English, and eventually, with seriousness and vigor, the breakthrough result that opened the door to the University to study Mathematics Education. Initially, I never thought teaching would be my calling. Yet, by divine arrangement, I found myself in the civil service, posted to Unity Secondary School, trained as an Inspector of Education.
