CHIEF OKEDUSI A. BEN EMERGES CHAIRMAN OF PARLIAMENT ESTATE RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION
Akure — Parliament Estate recorded another major milestone today as Chief Okedusi A. Ben was elected the new Chairman of the Parliament Estate Residents Association (PERA) in what stakeholders described as a free, fair, and well-conducted election.
The election was supervised by an Electoral Committee headed by Prof. Francis Gbore, whose leadership ensured a transparent, credible, and peaceful process, culminating in a smooth transition to the new administration.
In his Appreciation and Inaugural Speech, Chief Okedusi expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God for His grace and mercy, and thanked residents for the confidence reposed in him.
“I sincerely appreciate all members of the Parliament Estate Residents Association for finding me worthy to serve as Chairman. I do not take this trust lightly,” he said.
The new Chairman commended the immediate past Executive Committee for their selfless service, noting that the foundation laid by the previous administration would be strengthened and improved upon to achieve greater results.
Chief Okedusi outlined key priorities of his administration, with security taking centre stage. He disclosed plans to strengthen the Estate’s security architecture through the blocking of porous roads and improved surveillance to safeguard lives and property.
On infrastructure, he assured residents that the administration would engage relevant stakeholders to facilitate the construction of additional road networks and the rehabilitation of existing ones. He also pledged to deepen collaboration with the Electricity Committee to ensure improved and stable power supply across the Estate.
Addressing waste management, the Chairman praised the efforts of the former Chairperson, Mrs. Bridget Folayemi, and promised continued support for efficient waste disposal, including the possible engagement of private waste management firms where necessary.
Chief Okedusi further appealed to residents for the prompt payment of dues, stressing that adequate funding is critical to the successful implementation of planned programmes and projects. He also announced that resident enumeration would commence in the coming week to enhance planning and service delivery.
Emphasizing inclusiveness and transparency, the Chairman assured residents of continuous engagement with all stakeholders to foster unity and collective ownership of the Estate’s development.
“We are a community of noble and responsible residents, united by a common goal to make Parliament Estate a peaceful, comfortable, and desirable place to live,” he stated.
He concluded by pledging, on behalf of the Executive Committee, to serve diligently and make the Estate better than they met it.
Chief Okedusi A. Ben now assumes leadership as Chairman, Parliament Estate Residents Association (PERA), marking the beginning of a new chapter in the Estate’s development journey.
