I seize this auspicious moment to warmly congratulate one of our most illustrious sons of Akoko land, Prof. Taiwo Oyedele, on his well-deserved nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Minister of State for Finance.
Indeed, Mr President’s choice of this vibrant and accomplished indigene of Ondo State speaks volumes about his goal-getter disposition and his unwavering commitment to identifying and engaging the very best professionals to drive national development. This approach has consistently defined his leadership style and largely accounts for his remarkable successes.
As Governor of Lagos State, Mr President was renowned for seeking out competent, forward-thinking hands to design and implement policies that transformed the state. The visible strides Lagos made during his tenure can be directly traced to this noble philosophy of prioritising excellence over mediocrity.
Prof. Taiwo Oyedele brings to this national assignment an intimidating pedigree of competence and global exposure. He completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School. He also devoted 22 years of distinguished service at PwC, joining in 2001 and rising to the enviable position of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
Unlike leaders who surround themselves with mediocrity merely for personal convenience, Mr President has once again demonstrated courage, vision, and patriotism by choosing capacity, integrity, and professionalism.
