ODSUBEB Permanent Secretary Visits NLA 2026 Coordination Centre, Commends Officials for Successful Post-Field Activities

The National Learning Assessment (NLA) is a nationwide initiative designed to evaluate learners' achievement in foundational and core learning competencies across Nigeria. The 2026 assessment covered English Studies, Mathematics, and Basic Science and Technology for learners at the basic education level, while Citizenship/Heritage Studies was assessed for learners at the Senior Secondary School level. In addition to measuring learners' academic performance, the exercise collected valuable contextual information through questionnaires administered to learners, parents, and headteachers/principals.
As part of efforts to ensure the successful completion of the exercise in Ondo State, the Permanent Secretary of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole Phd, paid a working visit to the National Learning Assessment (NLA) 2026 Coordination Centre on Sunday, 5th July 2026.
During the visit, she monitored the post-fieldwork activities, where Technical Officers received and verified assessment materials returned by Assessors after the field exercise. The retrieved materials included the Learners' Questionnaires, Parents' Questionnaires, Headteachers'/Principals' Questionnaires, and the completed Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) answer sheets.
Speaking during the visit, the Permanent Secretary commended the Technical Officers and Assessors for their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the successful conduct of the assessment. She stressed the importance of ensuring that all assessment instruments were properly retrieved, thoroughly verified, and securely handled in order to maintain the integrity, confidentiality, and credibility of the National Learning Assessment.
Princess Bayo-Ilawole Phd further expressed appreciation to all officers who contributed to the success of the exercise, noting that their hard work and commitment have positioned Ondo State as a model of excellence in the implementation of national educational programmes. She encouraged them to sustain the same level of diligence and professionalism in future assignments.
